Praying for others

Our Father who art in Heaven, I come to thee with sadness, hope and faith;
Sadness about the suffering of children, women, elderly people and the disabled in the current fighting taking place in Lebanon and Israel as well as in the ongoing instability in Iraq and Afghanistan. Innocent lives have been lost. Young lives have been lost. It is a tragedy Lord.

I don't forget the suffering people of Somalia, victims of the civil instability in Sudan's Darfur Region, the hungry people of Niger and the poor of Zimbabwe (the former breadbasket of Africa) now suffering from hunger, disease and unemployment with inflation reported today at one million Z$ to a British £.

I have hope Lord, that:-

  • all this suffering will come to an end;
  • you will answer our prayers;
  • these wars come to an end;
  • you will remind the world's powerful rulers about their obligation to safeguard lives rather than to score points through proxy wars
  • you will bring sanity to the merchants of death who are trading in and transporting more and more sophisticated bombs to be used against defenceless civilians
  • human beings will one day learn to resolve any conflict through peaceful proccesses always and everywhere

I also have faith in the Lord, that:

  • He will deliver us from evil, through the blood of Jesus Christ for ever and ever!

Amen

"I am the light of the world"

The following except from John, chapter 9 have inspired me a lot today in this world of disbelief :

1: As he passed by, he saw a man blind from his birth.

2: And his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"

3: Jesus answered, "It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.

4: We must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day; night comes, when no one can work.

5: As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

6: As he said this, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle and anointed the man's eyes with the clay,

7: saying to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Silo'am" (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.

8: The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar, said, "Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?"

9: Some said, "It is he"; others said, "No, but he is like him." He said, "I am the man."

Psalm 104

33: I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
34: May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
35: Let sinners be consumed from the earth, and let the wicked be no more! Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!

God will Provide

I never give up hope, even when I am right on the edge, because I know that
  • the Lord is with me
  • I am God's creation
  • Jesus Christ died for my sins
  • I will be saved by the truth
  • whatever my enemies do, they can't beat God
  • whenever I am in need I ask our Father who Art in Heaven
  • GOD WILL PROVIDE

Lord have mercy, hear our prayers.

Amen

For everything there is a season

In Ecclesiastes1 I have learnt that for everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
and a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep and a time to cast away;
a time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace

Amen
